"Wow, just amazing. So many thoughtful touches in the Quantock Hide. A little corner of heaven here on earth" Feb 2019 Giselle, Steve & Richie the dog
Over the years we have had many many dog guests both large and small come to stay and the garden fencing has contained them without trouble. We would never say they are totally secure as if you have a complete escape artist where there is a will there is a way and all that! Due to the gardens being sizable we have purpose built doggie gates so you can decided how much or how little of the garden you want your fur-kids to have. You may wish for them to be able to roam and play in the whole of your enclosed garden or you may wish them to remain in the particular garden "room" that you are occupying, the choice is yours. Being dog owners ourselves we know only too well how important it is to know that the four legged family members are contained and happy then, we too can relax.
No not at all. We so appreciate that dogs are very important members of the family thus they are welcome to use all of the cottage along with their human parents.
Yes we do supply tea towels and oven gloves. In your cottage you will also find a starter pack of tea, coffee, salt, pepper, loo paper, basic cleaning materials, olive oil etc.
Yes the cottages all have WIFI and most mobile networks work well. Please note that this is a rural area so super-fast broadband has yet to reach us. It has managed to make it to Kilve village but it would seem that the lane is just one step to far for them!
Yes there is a hair dryer in each bedroom.
Coleridge is ideal for those with restricted mobility as the parking is directly outside of the cottage. The living area and the bedrooms and bathrooms are all on ground level with no steps. Please note that this cottage although accessible is not DDA compliant.
Greenway is also arranged over one floor and has downstairs bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms, but there are five quite steep garden steps which need to be navigated to reach the property.
The Quantock Hide is not suitable for those with restricted mobility as the accommodation is over two floors and there are a set of 13 steps to reach the property.
We have 3 luxury cottages and all 3 are dog friendly.
Yes. Some of the very best walking in the country is on the door step with 9,500 acres of Quantocks (SSI & AONB). The coast is also only a mile and a half away.
Yes all three cottages are. They are all luxurious, private and romantic. The most romantic is the Quantock Hide with its silk canopied bed and roll top bath for two. This cottage is our most popular for honeymoons and mini-moons.
Yes each property has its own hot tub. The hot tubs are heated all year round for our guest use.
No you book these direct with the individual service providers as you know your diary and they know theirs! When you book your stay, you will be sent in your documentation a link to the cottage's digital house-book. Contained within this is the menus and contact details for the providers.
Yes they are. They are toasty warm in the winter and lovely and cool in the summer.
Yes. All the local beaches are dog friendly year round, although in the summer at Minehead beach you have to keep to the right hand side. For best sandy beaches, Blue Anchor, Dunster and Bream Beaches fit the bill. Your local beach is Kilve, is a mile and a half away.
Yes all three cottages have central heating. Coleridge & Greenway have wall to wall underfloor heating. The Quantock Hide has normal wall mounted radiators and underfloor heating in the bathing areas. We should also mention that each and every bathroom has heated towel rails - nothing worse than having a damp towel!
Yes all the main supermarkets deliver. As do the local Butcher/fishmonger and the local greengrocer/deli.
For your deliveries the address is: Beech Hanger, Holford, Somerset. TA5 1SG. NOTE: in the delivery instruction box put the name of your cottage ie. Coleridge/Greenway/The Quantock Hide and also type in that they MUST deliver to your cottage via Pardlestone Lane, Kilve.
Yes, each cottage has a Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine, together with filter coffee machines for those who like their coffee the old fashioned way. And so tea drinkers don't feel left out, each cottage has its own full tea set!
We supply the first basket of logs for you. The village shop at the end of the road sells logs and kindling.
Yes we supply both robes and bath towels. Please could you bring your own beach and dog towels.
The Hood Arms at the end of the lane in Kilve is open after an extensive refurbishment and is under new management and is quite excellent. The Hood is very dog friendly. There is also the Plough Inn at Holford which is a mile and a half away and is a very pretty walk through the woods and it is also dog friendly. The village shop/post office at the end of the lane is quite excellent.
The BBQ's are charcoal BBQ's. Charcoal can be purchased from the village shop at the end of the lane.
We do have high chairs but please let us know in advance of your stay if you it. Due to the latests H&S guidelines we regret we are no longer able to offer travel cots. Please could you bring your own.
Each cottage has a full size American style fridge freezer so there is plenty of storage space.
Yes, the kitchens have hopefully pretty much everything you are ever likely to need including Kenwood, slow cookers, cake tins, plenty of oven to tableware dishes and masses of roasting tins.
Yes each cottage has their own off road parking spaces, and yes there is plenty of room per cottage to park multiple cars.
The Quantocks are are the perfect location for a luxury romantic holiday or mini-break with your dog and and also for a gathering of friends and family as it offers the best of the English countryside, yet is two hours closer to London and the Midlands than Cornwall or South Devon.
Being dog owners we appreciate that dogs are very important members of the family and that they must enjoy a holiday as much as you do.
Although we have only 3 luxury pet friendly holiday properties with enclosed garden and open fire it is a huge team and family effort to ensure that our guests both 2 and 4 footed have the best time, so we thought you might like to see who we are.
